What it Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a cosmetic facial skin care procedure that gently removes the outside surface of the skin and vellus hair (aka “peach fuzz”). This physical exfoliation procedure requires the use of a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently shave the skin’s surface resulting in healthier, brighter skin that has a smoother look and feel.
Who should consider Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is especially useful for clients with uneven skin tone, superficial acne scarring, or dry to rough skin texture. The procedure is also useful for those with aging skin to counter the buildup of dead skin cells that occurs more regularly with age. The procedure is also a great alternative to chemical peel treatments for clients who are pregnant or lactating.
What should I expect during my Dermaplaning appointment?
Our dermaplaning procedures typically require 30 – 45 minutes to complete and can be performed on a monthly basis. This painless treatment is performed freehand with a sterile surgical scalpel on tautly stretched skin using short strokes at a certain angle in particular patterns depending on the facial region. Unlike other cosmetics skin care procedures, dermaplaning does not require post-treatment downtime.
